2025 United Bucking Horse Association
Welcome to the 2025 UBHA Season! There will be some big changes this year as discussed at the 2024 Finals in Amarillo.
First off, memberships will reduced to $175 for the year, but we will also offer a $50 one-event permit for guys wanting to only enter one tour stop.
Secondly, we’re narrowing it down to a 4-stop Tour. First stop will be Glen Rose, TX, April 5th at the Top Shelf Shootout! $8500 added to the 2-Year Olds and we will come back after the lunch break with $4,000 added to the Yearlings with $200 fees ($130 to the pot) and $4,000 added to the 3-Year Olds with $500 fees ($400 to the pot). The second tour stop will be the Golden State Bucking Horse Futurity in Exeter, CA, with $15,000 added PER CLASS, (Yearling, 2’s, 3’s) May 31st. Stop 3 will be Lamar, CO, with finalized details for added money to be released soon and it will be on its usual dates in early August. Stop 4 is TBA.
This year there will be no Finals, we will still be giving Top 3 Year-End awards ON MONEY WON. The Finals hasn’t seen the support whether in Vegas or Amarillo.
Also, we’re going to go back to bucking the Yearlings for 6 seconds like the other two classes, the trial didn’t show up to make a difference in the young horses at 4 or 6 second whistle.
Top Shelf Shootout 2026 nominations will open February 15, 2025, and be open until March 15th, 2025, to secure the minimum required entry fee of $1200 made in payment installments similar to this last year.
The Top Shelf Shootout is looking to be loaded full with top quality horses from around the Northern continent! The stage is being set and we’re going to have a blast in Glen Rose. Don’t forget the mandatory tag-in time and Contractor Meeting along with catered dinner Friday night!
Thank y’all for the continued support of the association and we hope to see you this year at the tour stops. Our goal is to make this industry better and make these futurities lucrative enough that small breeders can finally start to make a profit at this game.

The United Bucking Horse Association Announces New Ownership
January 1st, 2024 – United Bucking Horse Association will enter the New Year under the new ownership of Performance Plus Equine Specialties, LLC. Chase Richter, previous owner, will continue to remain as Manager and Kay-Lee Bryant will continue to serve in Administration.
This partnership will serve to fuel the building and growth of the United Bucking Horse Association as well as the bucking horse industry.
“This partnership with Performance Plus Equine Specialties, LLC is what I believe the UBHA needed to continue to progress in the way Kay-Lee and I have been working towards. They have the business experience within the equine world and means to contacts about getting next level sponsorships to make this profitable for our contractors. I am remaining on the team as GM to handle all matters in the field, events, Finals, etc. We’re bridging the gap between our contractors / breeders and PRCA contractors through our breeding programs and proving these colts through competition. Kay-Lee is staying on as well, covering all administrative needs. Few changes will be made which will be highlighted in the 2024 Rule Book and some exciting high-level events are coming. I thank ya’ll for standing with us the last two years and appreciate your continued support through the next stage of growth!” – Chase Richter

The United Bucking Horse Association Announces New Ownership
Weatherford, Texas- United Bucking Horse Association is under new ownership of Chase Richter.
“I have been involved with the UBHA since 2017 under other people and became my own stock contractor in 2018.” Richter said. “I am excited for the opportunity to take over this association and continue to grow. Like many other parts of the ag industry, the rodeo industry took a hit over the last couple of years. As the new owner and fellow stock contractor I know the importance of the UBHA and what it has to offer for the future of rodeo.”
As an advocate for rodeo and futurity horses, Chase Richter plans to bring big things to the United Bucking Horse Association. Richter has been working hard behind the scenes to guarantee $2,500 added money in the two year-old and three year-old divisions at the UBHA finals in 2022 as well as securing World Championship Buckles to the year end
champion in the yearling, two year-old and three year-old classes. Along with this; first, second, and third place year end champions in the yearling, two year-old and three year-old classes will receive bronc halters. Finals qualifiers in each class will receive outerwear.
Richter grew up in the rodeo industry; competing in junior rodoes up to the PRCA level. He has been a PRCA cowboy since 2010, earning many accomplishments to put under his belt in the rodeo arena. Richter has been a certified equine dentist since 2012 and is the rough-stock assistant coach at Weatherford College. He has a passion for raising bucking horses and being an ambassador in the rodeo industry.
“I feel like this association is a key part in bridging the part between bucking horse breeders and PRCA contractors.” Richter stated. “The future of rodeo and bucking horses is bright.”
